Social Yachting: BANDITO
Bandit on the Water
-Liesel Schmidt
As business partners, Bobby Wade and Chad Solomon spend a great deal of time together—and seem to enjoy that time. Being that both share a passion for deep sea fishing, it seemed only natural to buy a boat that the two co-own specifically for that purpose.
Purchased in 2022, the 2016 Viking Yacht 70 Convertible is used mainly for fishing, though Wade and Solomon usually spend one or two nights offshore on boat trips. In homage to the chain of Mexican restaurants that Wade owns, the friends named their yacht Bandito, which translates to “bandit” in Spanish.
Bandito is built for comfort and speed, with a majority of the construction being Carbon Kevlar to reduce weight for more speed. As far as comfort is concerned, the interior boasts a full kitchen with Cambria quartz countertops, Subzero fridge and freezer, stovetop, convection microwave and full liquor and wine cabinets, as well as internet and satellite TV. Perfectly suited for summer, seven air conditioning units keep its interior spaces cool, from the salon and kitchen to the four cabins and four and a half bathrooms. Adding an element of luxury is the spaciousness of the main cabins and the finishes, with rich teak detailing, trim work, and cabinetry.
“We love spending time with family and friends on the boat,” says Wade, the father of three children, while Solomon has one. “Putting our kids behind the reel of a blue marlin never gets old, and they all love it.”
