Bride: Amaya + Triston

My maiden name was Amaya Johns, but now I proudly carry the name Amaya King, after marrying the love of my life, Triston King. I am a dedicated trauma ICU nurse, having earned my bachelor’s degree in nursing. Triston has an adventurous career as a towboat pilot on the mighty Mississippi River. Our love story culminated in a beautiful wedding on June 15th, 2024, after a five-year courtship filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.

Triston’s proposal on April 28th, 2023, was magical. Orange Beach, holds countless core memories for us, making it the perfect setting. Triston had planned a celebratory weekend getaway with our friends, ostensibly to mark my upcoming graduation from nursing school. It all seemed perfectly ordinary to me, especially when the couples decided to have separate date nights. Little did I know, this was all part of Triston’s plan.

 Triston and I embarked on a romantic boat ride to our favorite restaurant, Louisiana Lagniappe, a staple of our OBA trips. As we cruised through the water, enjoying the breathtaking sunset, I had no inkling of what was to come. Upon reaching the dock, Triston took my hand, knelt down, and asked me to marry him. To my astonishment and delight, our friends and family emerged, cheering us on. What I thought was a simple dinner date turned into a joyous engagement celebration, making the moment even more special.
